Inspired by a photography of Clydeside distillery

Whisky is in Glasgow’s blood and runs through the city’s industrial heritage like the River Clyde itself.

At the Pumphouse, where the Clydeside is located today, it was discovered that an ancestor of actual distillery owners, John Morrison, had a hand in building the Queen's Dock in 1863. One whole generation before the family discovered whisky, he was busy building half the city.

John also helped in raising Loch Katrine, the source of the pure soft water for the Clydeside single malt whisky today. The Morrison family's connections to the River Clyde and its docks came full circle with construction of the Clydeside in 2017.

This is the way I see this story of Clydeside distillery, as a kind of circle of times, where the whisky glass, held in a man's hand—perhaps John Morrison himself—breaks the barrier of time, making itself present in the spirit that embodies the essence of Glasgow.

Inspired by photomicrography of Peter Woitschikowski for the release of Tamdhu 2024 Dedication Collection

To celebrate the release of 2024 Dedication Collection, Tamdhu had worked with microphotographer Peter Woitschikowski to take a closet look of the spirit. A microscope spin for every year the whisky has matured in Sherry oak casks, 43 and 46 times.

The background of this painting reproduces artistically one of those wonderfull images that were captured then, playing in a forefront with the iconic logo and letters of the whisky.

Every decade spent in a Sherry oak cask magnifies the flavors, character and intensity of Tamdhu whisky. That's what I ment to capture in my canvas, joining two different points of view of the liquid gold.

I used as inspiration one of the amazing photomicrographs of Tamdhu whisky taken by Peter Woitschikowski for the background of my painting, and combined it with a glass of this amazing whisky, playing with transparencies of the casks in the warehouse.

Another of my artistic interpretation of Tamdhu whisky, enjoying with the creative process as much as I enjoy their Speyside Single Malt Scotch whisky.

Inspired by several phtographs of Tamdhu and Peter Woitschikowski.

For this canvas I combined the iconic Tamdhu two bottles of 43 and 46 years old with several artistic interpretations of the images magnified captured by Peter Woitschikowski , who crystalized the whisky with natural extracts inspired by the tasting notes. He magnified 43 and 46 times in each case, one spin of the microscope for every year it has spent in a Single Sherry Oak cask.

These 43 and 46 years old whiskies are a 2024 celebration release called "Dedication Collection". Tamdhu had worked with Peter Woitschikowski, a leading photomicrographer, who bridges science with art to reveal hidden drama imposible to see at naked eye.

The colours represents the notes of lemon, orange and coffee, dried berries and sherry oak, chocolate and coconut with a rich finish for the 43 y/o. Aromas of orange, tropical fruit and vainilla, papaya spirals with rich malt warming spice on the palate with a complex floral finish for the 46 years.

Inspired by a photography of The Glenlivet

This painting represents my own way to pay homage to those who've been working since the very first beginning in this, the oldest legal distillery in Speyside, Scotland.

Founded in 1824 by George Smith, The Glenlivet Distillery produces a great Single Malt whisky, that night and day, witnesses the dedication of all the people involved in the creation of the spirit that, after a long time maturing in oak casks, will be transformed in the recognized whisky we all know.
