Redbreast’s history traces its roots back to 1857, when W&A Gilbey was founded in London and by 1861 had branches in Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Redbreast Single Pot Still Whiskey has a legacy that spans over a century, reflecting the artistry and expertise passed down through generations of master distillers. Each sip of Redbreast is a journey through time and a celebration of Ireland’s whiskey-making legacy.

The name ‘Redbreast’ itself refers to the bird, Robin Redbreast, and is attributed to the Chairman of Gilbey’s, who was an avid bird-fancier.

Nowadays the brand (owned by Irish Distillers / Pernod Ricard) has a great commitment with the birdlife protection, with many campaigns dedicated to create awareness about the importance of protecting birds.
