Astor Pantaleón Piazzolla (Mar del Plata, March 11, 1921-Buenos Aires, July 4, 1992) was an Argentine bandoneon player, orchestra director, arranger and composer considered one of the most important musicians of the 20th century and one of the greatest exponents of tango worldwide.

In this painting using the techniques of Fileteado Porteño, in addition to portraying him, I use in the composition several allegorical images of his life.

The sea lions—Mar del Plata icons—; the instruments of his quintet—guitar, double bass, violin, and piano, in addition to his bandoneon. The lost birds, taking flight; the orange blossoms of those oranges that greeted him in "Ballad for a Madman" and the wings of a unique angel, the one who inspired his "Angel Series," a symbol of resurrection through his music.

The work closes with a magnificent stanza from "Ballad for My Death" written by the great Horacio Ferrer, which inspired one of his most sublime tangos.
