Plaster sculpture with bronze patina made with the classical technique.
First, the original is modeled in clay, then we proceed to taselado and take the mold in plaster.
From this negative mold, the final copy is taken, which must be rediscovered by chopping the mold, which is lost in the process.
Once “reborn”, the sculpture is patinated with paint and gold glitter, to give the effect of aged bronze.
The naturalism and realism of the portrait suggests in memory those ancient Portraits of Al Fayum, from the Roman period in Egypt dating from the 1st to 3rd century AD. C. approximately.
It is a tribute in life to my mother, and in her, to the spiritual force that lives in each mother and allows her to bear, with love and patience, everything that is necessary to protect, care for and educate her children.
Her face, with strong features, reveals the passage of time and the harshness of life, honesty and fidelity to being reflected in each act.
Her eyes penetrate the interior of the person looking at her, searching for the true, the intimate, the truly valuable.
Her small mouth recalls sweet words of understanding, respect and comfort.
In her old and feminine hairstyle, there is a quota of innocence and longing for the past, a hint of nostalgia that illuminates the memories.
