The Six Pillars are the cornerstones of The Macallan's character and the creation of its rich spirit.
They encompass the strong sense of place at the heart of The Macallan Distillery.
5. NATURAL COLOUR
All the colors in The Macallan whiskeys, bottled by the distillery, are natural.
Only the interaction of the spirit of «new make» with the oak of the barrels of Maturation provides the rich, natural diversity of colors across the gamut, from light oak to dark mahogany.
These natural colors remain 'fixed', unlike artificial color, which fades relatively quickly in sunlight. sol.
The master whiskey maker requires great skill to achieve the consistency of the natural color from bottling to bottling.
